Why Early Access?

“Unlike our previous games, which were more linear and story-driven, Hollywood Animal offers lots of freedom and variability. It consists of a large number of systems that communicate with each other, and designing it took a delicate touch. We offered a fairly long demo for Steam Next Fest, and already received a huge amount of useful feedback, which helped us improve the game. We decided that we wanted to continue development in the same way – consistently, thoughtfully, and with the help of the players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to take the game out of Early Access by the end of 2025.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the complete version, we plan to cover a longer historical period, and offer additional events and features. During Early Access, we'll also be fixing bugs, polishing up the mechanics, and perfecting the playability.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Hollywood Animal is a highly variable game with a huge number of choices, both large and small. It's loosely divided into three Acts, centering around the development of the film industry and world history. To kick off Early Access, we're offering players Act 1, which spans about twenty in-game years – and includes nearly all of the mechanics and events we planned for this period, in near-final quality. We'll be adding and improving the game regularly, as we move towards the full version.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're planning two price increases: one during Early Access when we add Act 2 to the game, and one more when the full game is released. People who support us now are getting the game for the lowest possible price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Ever since we released the demo, we've been collecting suggestions and bug reports from all over: our Discord channel, the Steam forums, emails, and even YouTube comments. Throughout Early Access, we'll keep gathering and building off player messages from every source we can find – but we always encourage everyone to join us on Discord for faster and more direct feedback.”
